La Costa Valley School Site

Something else that doesn't look like a nothing-burger is the La Costa Valley school site.  The lady in charge says they have no intention of selling it, but then hires a consultant to examine the possibilities?  They have to be in a bind with the cutbacks, it would seem to be inevitable that selling the site will become a necessity.

The discussion garnered 55 comments, here's a link for those who want to learn more:

The group that got in the middle of it has been active, apparently.

This post was left today by Another LCV Homeowner:

"It looks like things are heating up in La Costa Valley. The group got one of their members onto the board, and has already snuck in a special HOA board meeting. It will be Tuesday, May 6th, meaning homeowners will only get one or two day's advance notice."

I'd love to hear more about how this turns out.

Remember school districts are exempt from local zoning regulations. You won't see an outright sale but rather a cooperative "joint venture" where the district participation rams through unsustainable density and then the developer takes over using proceeds from the project to compensate the district. Developers love this arrangement.

Yeah, Dawg, you've probably called it exactly.
Another school district nearby in Encinitas tried something like after closing a school in 2003 but the citizens put the kabash on it.

That school district decided to swap the old school for a shopping center so they can make a few bucks.

It's doubtful school districts will stick to teaching kids when they don't seem to do their own homework nor learn from their own lessons.
